Guitar and Bass instructor Steve Langemo and his family recently relocated to Colorado from Dayton Ohio. He is an experienced and accomplished professional musician and has had a successful 20-year career in both teaching and performing.
Steve holds a Bachelor’s Degree in guitar performance from Minnesota State University and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Guitar Performance from Bowling Green State University. He spent 3 years as a jazz, rock, and classical guitar instructor at Minnesota State University, and most recently was a music professor at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, where he taught guitar, music appreciation, history of rock and roll, and music technology.
In his professional performing career Steve has played thousands live shows and has been a part of countless bands and groups. He has performed in a wide range of genres, including Rock, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Folk, and Fusion. Steve has also worked extensively as a pit orchestra musician and has served as a guitarist or bassist for over 50 professional musical theatre productions, including Rent, Tommy, Evita, Hair, Bat Boy, Les Miserables, Grease, Man of La Mancha, Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Grey Gardens.
Recent career highlights include a successful 7 year run with the Cincinnati based Steely Dan tribute band AJA, producing and releasing a full-length CD of original jazz and fusion compositions, and being chosen by the Guitar Player Magazine staff to compete in their 2009 Guitar Superstar competition in San Francisco.
Along with his successful performing career and academic teaching, Steve has taught private guitar and bass lessons to students of all ages for over 20 years. He specializes in helping students at any level excel and reach their goals while having fun in the process. He is very excited to be a Colorado resident and a member of the Shin’s Music teaching staff!
